Hmm, let's start a drinking game. Take a shot each time one character asks another if they need a slap.

Chapter 1:
Molly: "I know you're going through a lot, Eddie, but if you don't snap out if [sic] this fast and start acting like yourself again, I am going to slap you a good one and it will hurt."

*gulp*

Still Chapter 1:
Eddie: "You want a slap, girl? I've got one right here in my pocket..."

*gulp* *sways*

Going to be a long book. *hic*

Just about finished, the big showdown with Crow Lee is over, kind of a let down that the ever present traitor wasn't anyone we were already familiar with. Does anyone remember an Adrian Drood in previous novels? Enjoying the book overall, can't wait for the ending!

I almost forgot to share this quote - I made sure to highlight on my Kindle too!
Quote:
"Bow ties are cool," I said. "The Travelling Doctor said so."

"And he should know," said Molly. "He's been around."

So glad it weren't the last in the series, curious about who he is going to work for in the next book though

I'm betting the Department of the Uncanny. Eddie made a comment in either this book or the last one that he doesn't feel the family will ever let him get back to just being a field agent in London. Working for the Regent will let Eddie get back to what he enjoys doing, once he makes peace with the people he discovered working for the Regent. (no I will not give away some spoilers, thank you!)

I loved it. I have to admit I was kindda hoping they'd find a way to bring Harry and Roger back as well but no such luck alas.
And that Doctor Who reference, that was epic.

But you'll remember it wasn't the first Doctor Who reference in Secret History mind, remember the spitfires when they went out to take down the Satanic Conspiracy in their floaty other dimension castle?
To be honest I'm not sure what I loved more: the Doctor Who reference or the Bloody Mallory one.
(Best movie EVER!)
