Are there any fans of Graham Masterton here? The Manitou series, The Wells of Hell, The Djinn? I love his horror, Lovecraftian, but fast paced. He reminds me a little bit of Simon R. Green.

Absolutely! I devoured most of his work when I was a teenager and really enjoyed Death Trance and The Mirror, although I particularly loved his first two Night Warrior books. I feel he kinda ran out of steam for the follow ups; although I desperately wanted them to be the same standard they didn't grip me the same way.

Hmm, I noticed something similar with the Manitou novels. The first two are the best. But still, he is a very good author.

I totally agree. Another good author with overtones of Lovecraft is Brian Lumley; his early Necroscope novels and Vampire World spinoffs are brilliant reads. He creates an amazingly well realised universe of people with psychic abilities and puts a slant on the vampire mythos that works really well. I highly recommend them if you haven't already read them :-)

I haven't. I have tried his Titus Crow novels, but I didn't like them too much. It seemed to me that he does not grasp how scary are the Loveraftian Old Things. Now Robert Bloch did well in "Strange Eons" - that was a great novel.
But I guess that his vampire books might be better.
