Tolkien's treatment of Bēoƿulf was released today, getting my copy tomorrow.

Anyone else have an interest?

I listened to Heaney’s translation when it was broadcast on radio 4 and, to be honest, I wasn't that taken with it.
Didn't even know Tolkien had translated it until now, but I read he never considered it for publication!

Might give a try.

There a comparison of a section from both the Tolkien and the Heaney version here if anyone want to see the differences; http://www.openculture.com/2014/04/exce ... owulf.html

Honestly, whilst I am curious to read his take on Bēoƿulf, I am more interested in the rest of the book.

Heaney's take is interesting enough, but I find myself enjoying John Porter's translation a lot.

The Tolkien edition will be my 7th print version, also have a couple on Kindle as well as a few movie treatments.
