First, may thanks for all the people that entered the Ghost of a Smile compo.

I'll be starting a new one in September and wonder what kind of thing people would like to see?

Any thoughts on the type of thing you'd all like to see??

Do a drawing competition,

See if anyone can do justice with a brush to Simons pencil

(wasn't meant to sound dodgy)

Being artistically disinclined, I'd rather not see a drawing competition.

I like competitions where you get a laugh, such as the myriad photoshop competitions on various internet sites and how off-the-wall they get. How about "who did Razor Eddie make cry this time?" or "what other distressing items does John Taylor have in his pockets?" (keep it clean kids...) Or we could play Vanna White to the Armorer's newest toys for field agents - you provide the image, we provide the very bizarre functions.

Short story comp is an obvious one.

I like the idea of a design competition: design the cover of your favourite S.R.G. book.

Competition idea competition. Whoever comes up with the best idea for a competition wins.

I will expose my lack of knowledge about the publishing industry, and books in general a little here...

I don't know what they're called, but those short descriptions of a novel on the back of paperbacks, and the dust jacket on hardcovers. Yeah, we should write those for our favorite SRG novels.

It seems a pretty good writing competition. They're short enough to not be a burden on the judges, take quite a bit of finesse in not spoilering anything while still being descriptive, and wouldn't create a conflict of interest. Most importantly though, they would showcase the winners knowledge and understanding of Simon's books, which is really what we're all here for to begin with.

Edit: Don't listen to anything I just said, I just read that the next competition would be Forest Kingdom related, and there's no way on earth I could win the competition I just described (despite being a rabid Forest Kingdom fan). Instead, I propose a beard growing competition....

You know, being a girl I protest a beard growing competition unless I can enter my husband's beard. Having none of my own that is :P

I like the idea of a beard growing contest.
Mine is currently at about five inches and still growing.

(I want to be a Viking when I grow up. )

I'm NOT sorting through envelopes full of beards...

I do a lot of 'stuff' for the site, but I draw the line at that :D

We have a winner! Although by winning the competition by suggesting a competition to come up with ideas for a competition I'm pretty sure a vortex of strange logic opens up and sucks the board into some Lovecraftian realm, so maybe not...

No sense of adventure, Steve.

Alyindar, I can't imagine that thought ever crossing my mind.
