I had both Hex Appeal and Live and Let Drood pre-purchased through Amazon, and they were delivered to my Kindle bright and early this morning. I rushed through Hex Appeal, reading it during breakfast and over my lunch break, and thoroughly enjoyed the darker walk in the Nightside over Dead Boy's shoulder. The story was surprisingly deep into the darker psychology of Dead Boy than I expected, and rather than a "narrated past tense" tale it was instead told in current tense while Dead Boy explored (inside and out) the people and events that were involved in his death and condition thereafter. It certainly set itself apart from the John Taylor narrative, while still retaining that Nightside feel. A big prop as well to PN Elrod for putting the URL of this website in the "about the author" blurb too!

Sil was an awesome character, and I'm guessing the reason for the thematic choice in this anthology. The ending was very satisfying, and learning what Sil really is was a real trip! Who's Sil, you ask? Go read for yourself, you may just like it. ;)
