Simon has confirmed he'll be at the British Fantasycon in Brighton next year (2011).

Info here; http://www.fantasycon2011.org/

No programme info yet, they don't tend to announce it until the month before the event.

Anyone in Brighton between Sept 30 to Oct 2nd drop in and say hi. . .

Nice, the more the merrier.

Someone else on here is going too.

Head for the bar, that's where the real event is :D

Oh just wondering if we know whether Simon will be there for the whole weekend? I can only make the Saturday and he'd be the main reason I'd be going..

He certainly will (we both will).

I'm getting the train down Friday, and one of its many, many stops is Simon home town.

Should at the hotel by 5ish and in a the bar by 10 past!!

I have no idea what panels he'll be on yet. They don't tend to do the programme until the week before.

I did consider going, but it seems strange (to me) to head all that way to see a man who lives less than 6 miles from me. :?

You do have a very valid point there !! But not one that many others can relate too.

I'll try to get some pictures to post after the event.

Anyone thinking of going.
Fantasycon is a very small event (if you've seen reports of events like Worldcon, it's nothing like. Worldcon gets 5 to 7 thousand people, this gets a few hundred at most). It's very book driven and has lots of authors (getting drunk) and only one programme stream that stops about 6 in the evening and no media programme at all.

If anyone's thinking of dropping in on Sunday, its the banquet from 1 pm. Everything stops for this.
There will be no programme events, the dealer will most likely shut down, so there's very little to do.
It's ticket only at £35 a head, and personally I think vastly over priced for what they serve you.

I don't tend to see him around, though, so it would actually give me a chance of seeing him, if I went. (Other factors prohibit it, unfortunately.)

Ooh hooray! :) Also I didn't mean my last post to sound as stalky as it did. I'm fairly normal really! Anyhoo guess I'll see you both there!
