Is anyone else feeling very Unexcited about the new Batman film?

And wondering why they are bothering to re-boot Spiderman already?

I can't get excited about the new Batman film when I know that it is about to go out of canon - Reboot is happening before JLA gets a release.

Personally, I think that Marvel needs to reboot its entire universe, push movies from one studio and link their entire continuity together. And make Thor a real god, goddammit! :x

Yeah, my comic fanboy is really fed up with ALL the comic movies.

You can't really treat any of these movies as canon with their comic counterparts. Indie ones like The Watchmen are about as close as you can get. Christopher Nolan has done a surprisingly good job with the Batman franchise, even if it's a bit overdone by now. A JLA film would be great, especially after the success of the Avengers showing that a multiple super hero film can work.

(Watchmen was utterly dire, and a DC property!)

My point is that the Comic houses are treating their movie adaptions as a new, parallel continuity.

After Dark Knight Rises, Batman is getting re(re)booted so it meshes with the upcoming Superman (reboot) movie so that they can release JLA (plans are in place for this).

It is all about maximising profits, but it irks me that they keep restarting (and still getting it wrong) their stories, which just makes any investment (as a fan) into the movies kind of pointless.

Most wholeheartedly agree. I heard a rumor that Batman was going to be re-re-booted (technically Adam West's series was before Tim Burton, so re-re-re-booted?), but I didn't know it was going to be to mesh with the Man of Steel timeline to merge into JLA. Stay strong good sir, something good will come some day. Or we can go give the movie execs a good slap. I've got one in my pocket for just such an occasion.

I've pretty given up on the genre. I'll stick to the printed format,I think.

I thought Watchmen was awesome personally.
I also really enjoyed The Avengers.

Whilst I saw both Batman Begins (loved it) and The Dark Knight (meh) in the cinema, I won't be seeing The Dark Knight Rises because I wasn't all that keen on #2 so yeah. I'll just wait 'till they show it on Prime (a digital tv channel in Belgium) and my dad can tape it on DVD for me to watch (I don't have digital tv myself).

I'm not terribly looking forward to Iron Man 3 to be honest, again the first one rocked but the second one wasn't nearly as good. So I'm still on the fence about that one.

By the by, Spidey isn't the only thing getting rebooted with an origin story, there's also a new Superman movie in the works *eyeroll*.

And isn't there a second Wolverine film coming up at some point as well?

I have heard that, yes.

Also, what of the Hobbit announcement? Now THREE movies, instead of two.

I think they are going to screw it up really, REALLY badly.

I still want a production company just so I can start making adaptions of books I love (which is essentially Simon's stuff and a few others.)

Frankly I don't care much about the Hobbit adaptation. I'm not a Tolkien fan, I know that's seen as some sort of heresy but I don't care, to each their own :)
I thought the LotR trilogy was alright albeit a bit slow paced at times.

As a Tolkien fan, I thought that the LotR movies were too short and missing pivotal scenes, whilst they added pointless (romantic) crap.

Now they are adding new characters for rubbish reasons ('more female energy' my arse!!!)
