Official Main Trailer

I am so conflicted about this film. :?

On the one hand, it looks really cool - there are just not enough decent fantasy films out there.

On the other hand, I recognise almost none of the story presented in the trailer. They have changed way too much, for no real reason and the addition of Tauriel absolutely blows (I have a serious hate-on for that character, already).

A final thing, initial reviews of the trailer has given a lot of positive feedback for Cumberbatch's dialogue. Is it just me, or does he sound like he is channelling Tim Curry, from his performance as Darkness (in Legend)?

I just wish this entire Hobbit thing went away to be honest.
But only because I don't want to sit through another part in the cinema where I'll be bored after an hour and still have to sit there being bored for over an extra 2 hours.

I love fantasy and would love to see more decent fantasy movies.

I'll watch the next Hobbit movie simply because there are no alternatives for me. It is such a small genre of film. :(

Amen! Fantasy was what I grew up with, and it makes me sad to see it as such a niche genre after what the original Lord of the Rings brought to the screen, and then all the muckups that followed. One of my favorite authors growing up was David Eddings, I'd love to see his Elenium trilogy done right on the big screen!

I'd like to see original, written-for-the-screen stories.

No matter how good an adaptation is, there is always going to be a level of interpretation going on that will annoy someone.

Really??? Wow, that's a hell of a claim. We obviously like very different things.

Indeed. You didn't like The Dark Knight Rises, if I am correct, and it is probably my favorite movie ever
But still better to like different things, at least this means that we are not like the Shadow Bank :?

The Hobbit 2 is on my list of worst ever movies. Dark Knight Rises was just "meh".

Surprisingly enough I actually quite enjoyed this one.
I wouldn't say it was an awesome movie, but I liked it regardless.
It was better than Hobbit 1 for sure.
In my opinion at least, everyone is welcome to their own and we'll just agree to disagree :)
