I love Drinking Midnight Wine, it is one of my favourite of Simon's books as it is so beautifully playful but somehow grounded in real life due to the fact that the main character is in a way the town of Bradford on Avon itself.
Anyway as to casting who would you put in for them (money no object).

Off the top of my head:
Toby Dexter - Nathan Fillion
Voice of Leo's Brother - Liam Neeson
Luna - Tilda Swinton

Any ideas?

I love Nathan Fillion, but he's too ruggedly handsome for the role. Toby was much more plain and average looking. What about Gayle? Maybe Kate Winslet (in her younger years, to accommodate Gayle's apparent youth) or Billie Piper?

I have thought long and hard about this.

It would obviously have to be filmed on location (with a couple exceptions, of course) but who to cast... That I struggle with.

I'd be an extra without hesitation, though!

I don't know Luc, if you're prepared to do a De Niro and put on some fat and do an American accent you could play Trash the Necromancer.

Well, I use the word 'dude' a lot...

I'd be fine with just being a passenger at the Station scene.

Actually Simon could have a cameo as one of the authors in the Dandy Lion.

For Angel i was thinking of a bulked up Lena Headey.
For Jimmy Thunder he's a bit too skinny but maybe we could get Damian Lewis to hit the weights as well.

I have always envisioned Simon as one of the authors in the Dandy Lion.

I can't stand Lena Headey, so I wouldn't cast her in anything.
