I was talking with someone last night about this and seemed a good subject for here, so...

How do you communicate with the future if you're caught in a timeslip and end up in the past?
All you have on you is whatever you'd normally have as you go about your daily life.

Assume two possible 'arrive times' of any time in the last 1000 years.

And pre human (ie at least 1,000,000 years ago).

Is there anyway to alert a future time traveling society that you need help?
Also, what impact on the timeline of your message?

Btw, I'm dismissing the idea of a finding the most well known cliffs in the world and carving 'Hello Sweetie' on them :)

I'm a survivalist and my 'everyday carry' (EDC) is pretty comprehensive. 8-)

In either case, I would go to a well known archaeological site, relevant to the time I find myself in (I'd be hoping for indicators I would recognise) and then carve a message on a stone (yup, never leave home without a couple blades on me). I would then deposit the stone, along with some loose change, into my trusty survival tin (emptying the contents into a pocket) and bury it under a rock.

Of course, that wouldn't be my first thought, since I'd be more inclined to ensure my survival.
:ugeek:

That's a toughie. I suppose the Marty McFly option comes to me first - leave a parcel with UPS for the next umpteenth number of years to be delivered to someone specific at a point in which I've disappeared from the future. But of course the pre-human scenario would leave out any kind of parcel service option, at which point carving "Hello Sweetie" into the side-

Oh, that's not allowed either. You're a spoilsport. :P
